Global Secure Layer launches lowest latency path between Australia and Japan

Brisbane, 05 March, 2021 Global Secure Layer (GSL) and RTI Connectivity Pte. Ltd (RTI) are pleased to announce GSL is continuing it’s Asia-Pacific network expansion by connecting Australia to Japan via the optical submarine cable owned and operated by RTI.
This newly signed capacity agreement between GSL and RTI will expand GSL’s already extensive Asia-Pacific network. Using RTI’s Japan Guam Australia -North (JGA-N) & Japan Guam Australia -South (JGA-S) cables, GSL will be able to deliver capacity on the lowest latency route between Tokyo and Sydney.
Building upon their already extensive peering arrangements in the Asia-Pacific region, GSL will use the RTI cable to offer the lowest latency route between the east coast of Australia and Japan. Having a Point of Presence in Tokyo will allow GSL to broaden its network edge and continue to grow its domestic Australian market by providing low latency subsea capacity from Tokyo.
Nathan Harding, Chief Executive Officer, Global Secure Layer said, RTI’s ability to offer a premium path between Japan and Australia with extremely low latency was exactly what GSL was looking for in an international connectivity partner.
“With the rapid rise in content being delivered over our network, it was imperative that we had carrier-grade subsea capacity between two of the major business hubs, Tokyo and Sydney,” said Nathan.
“Establishing a link between Tokyo and Sydney was always on the roadmap for GSL, we just needed to find the right connectivity partner to work with and I am excited to be starting this long term relationship with RTI.”
“This premium route allows us to continue to provide a high-quality service to our customers and expand and strengthen our international footprint.”
Shota Masuda, President of Global Business and Chief Strategy Officer for RTI said, “Access to international networks should be made easy for everyone. We are incredibly happy to be working with a young entrepreneurial organisation such as GSL across Asia and support their growing business presence globally. The reach and unlimited capacity available on RTI’s network will allow GSL to continue to push the boundaries of technology to deliver scalable innovative solutions to their customer base globally. This deployment takes advantage of the lowest latency path available between Australia & Japan that the JGA cable system now provides to the market.
Russ Matulich, RTI’s Founder and CEO further added, “This is only the beginning. We are committed to our mission of revolutionising global connectivity by building the infrastructure APAC needs for the next several decades. We will continue to deliver network diversity, neutral connectivity and operational efficiency across all telecom sectors and to customers searching for true value.”
