Global Secure Layer signs 100G capacity commitment on PC-1

Global Secure Layer signs 100G capacity commitment on PC-1 network to enhance connectivity between the United States and Asia

Brisbane, 17 January, 2023 - Global Secure Layer, Australia’s leading IP Transit and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) company, today announced the signing of a significant 100G subsea commitment on PC-1 network cable between Seattle and Tokyo.

The PC-1 network operates between the United States and Japan, providing a high capacity route with the lowest-latency path of 81.5ms between the two countries. The PC-1 cable supports the demand for trans-pacific capacity and managed network services.

Chief Operations Officer for Global Secure Layer, Callum Hansford emphasised the importance for Global Secure Layer to have secure, low-latency subsea capacity between both countries. The demand for GSL to have capacity on PC-1 has been driven by the ever-growing needs of our customers’ wanting to expand outside of the US and strengthen their presence between major business and financial hubs.

“This additional 100G capacity will continue to enhance GSL’s global subsea network infrastructure, bolstering our commitment to provide businesses with secure, reliable and low-latency connectivity of 81.5ms.”

“This 100G commitment will only further complement our APAC network adding additional redundancy to our global backbone. This new capacity adds to the multi-100Gbit commits GSL has signed in the APAC region over the last 6 months. In addition to signing PC-1, we have also recently deployed equipment into our eighth major city across the US,”  said Hansford.

“Our recent deployment locations expand across the East and West Coast of the US and have 100G redundant waves connecting all sites. As demand for global capacity continues to rise, our growth trajectory for the US is on track with no sign of slowing down.”
